Sadly for one of our group, Ironman Barcelona didn’t quite have the happy ending they wanted (or indeed the one all the rest of us wanted for him). In this report, John McGargill gives an honest report on his experience. Everyone at the club wishes John the very best for a speedy and full recovery.

With the number of members of the club doing triathlon increasing every year, and the success of our Go Tris also building year on year, it was no surprise that the time had come to put on our very own sprint triathlon. Weetslade Relays Report
Ponteland Runners were well represented with seven mixed gender and age teams for the Weetslade 2.5mile relays at Lockey Park in Wideopen.
There was shouting, clapping, aeroplanes, grass, gravel, a particularly large hill, a camping chair, lots of Ponteland blue – and yes some bloomin’ good running.
Of 100 teams we ranged from 28th to 85th. To top it off £2 from each entry went to charity! One to recommend for next year and thanks to Matty Bell for organising.
Go-Tri Wed June 6th 19:00hrs
Go-Tri’s are all about having a go and enjoying yourself. Great to see so many having fun with the photo frames from British Triathlon that were around for our event. The weather was kind and we had a lovely evening for a sell-out event with 70 participants. The Ponteland Go-tri’s have a regular following which is great to see and we hope to see many of you back in 2019, and more importantly entering our Sprint Tri Ponteland event on July 1st 2018. The go-tri results are below, well done to everyone.
