Support your local friendly tri club!
Swim, bike and run around Ponteland in our individual or relay Sprint distance next Spring.
Anyone who has taken part in any of our previous events will know we have a fantastic team of marshals to support you all the way and there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for overall winners as well as each age group.
Enjoy a 400m Pool Swim, 20km Bike around Ponteland and Darras Hall, before a fast 5km run on mixed terrain. This event is also included in the North East Regional Grand Prix and the Northern Trier Race Series.
Race Details
Participants are invited to register the day of, or the day prior to the event. Early registration information will be available to participants in due course.
The compulsory Race Briefing on the morning of the race will also be detailed in due course.
Anyone who is not a BTF member will need to purchase a "BTF Day Race Pass" before the event. This is a requirement for all NON BTF members.
Swim (400m)
Swimmers will set off in waves based on the estimated time submitted on event entry. The swim consists of 16 lengths of the 25M pool with each lane having a marshal. The marshal will indicate when you have two lengths left but overall, it is the participants responsibility to make sure they swim the correct number of lengths. At the end of the swim, participants will head for transition via the exit door next to the kids pool.
The transition area will be in the coach park and approx. 75m from the pool exit.
Bike (20km)
The bike route consists of a single loop through Ponteland, heading towards Dalton and Medburn before looping back towards the leisure centre via Stamfordham Road and Callerton Lane. The course has one set of traffic lights (immediately outside the leisure centre at the Bike Mount line). You will pass through these lights on your return at the end of the ride; you must obey the Highway Code and stop if the lights are on red. View the full bike route.
Run (5km)
A two-lap run route takes you around the Ponteland area on open pathway, bridlepath, and grassed terrain.
