The ideal event for those new to Triathlon
Swim Bike Run offers the opportunity to take part in multisport at a minimal cost. Perfect for those wanting to give triathlon a go without the pressure of a full race. All you need is swim kit and goggles, a bike, and a pair of trainers.


Bite size fun across Swim Bike and Run
This event is perfect for people dipping their toe into the sport. Enjoy the achievement of finishing and you'll see that Triathlon is for anyone.
The event distances are short with a 200m pool swim, followed by a 10km bike ride and a 3km run, all in the vicinity of Ponteland. We have plenty of marshals on hand to help you make sense of the transition area and stick to the routes.
All you need to take part is swim kit and goggles, a bike (any bike as long as it’s in safe and working order), a helmet and trainers. What are you waiting for? Get your name on the list!
Event Details
SwimBikeRun is an initiative launched by British Triathlon to provide people with the opportunity to take part in multisport events regularly and at a minimal cost. The events will be low key and therefore perfect for those wanting to give triathlon a go without the pressure of a full race event.
2027 Date TBC.
The aim of the events is for people to discover the sport and enjoying the achievement of finishing an event and believing that triathlon and its multi related distances is for them. For many who take part this will be there first entry into the sport.
Distances
The event distances are short with a 200m pool swim, followed by a 10km bike ride and finishing with a 3km run. All events are based at Ponteland Leisure Centre.
You will set off in waves, starting with the swim, which consists of 8 lengths of the pool. The transition area will be in the coach park and approx. 75m from the pool exit.
Next up, a road-based cycle through Ponteland village and Darras Hall, before a mixed terrain run ending at the leisure centre.
Timings
As with previous years, the events are all based at Ponteland leisure centre and will start at 19:00 hours on Wednesday evenings.
Marshals will meet participants at the entrance to transition and also in the Reception area of the Leisure Centre for registration.
