2020 Parkrun Challenge

Back for its 5th year Ponteland Runners’ parkrun challenge we will once again be running the competition for 2020. The whole reason for the challenge is to bring members together at local Parkruns. Here is how it will work…..

Points will be up for grabs for competing at 10 local parkruns (see below for list) and are intended to reward participation, absolute performance and improvement. So, there will be points for completing, for where you finish relative to other Ponteland Runners and for Personal Best performances.  The more of them that you do and the better your performances, the more points you will get, however your best 8 scores will count.  There will be separate men’s and women’s competitions and a small prize awarded at the end of the season to the leading man and woman. But better than the prize will be the parkrun glory.

You must be a paid member of Ponteland Runners. You must be listed as a Ponteland Runner in the parkrun results. So, make sure you are by clicking on the link here.. https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register

Entry to the competition is automatic – you don’t need to do anything just turn up on the dates provided below.  As stated, you can only score at 8 events, however obviously the more you do the more chance of points you have to gain. Updates will be published on the Facebook page after each event.

Points will be awarded based upon where you finish relative to other club members. The man and woman finishing last of the club members running that event will be awarded 10 points, the one in front of him/her will get 11 and so on up to the first club man and woman home. So the bigger the turnout and the more you people you finish ahead of, the more points you will get but you will always get 10 points just for completing the events below. 10 Points will also be awarded for every personal best performance at each location.  Please bear in mind that if you haven’t completed a particular course before then you cannot qualify for a PB as per parkrun results.

The 10 events are provisional and we reserve the right to amend the list in light of alternative events or cancellations. I have avoided all dates that coincide with club championship races and will review later dates against new season cross country dates once announced:
