Ponteland Runners committee recognise that the club have an ongoing need to increase the number of qualified leaders we have available to lead runs for the A, B and C groups and also helping in leading social runs on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. If your viewing this page you must have spoken with a member of the committee and expressed either an interest or willingness in being an LiRF qualified leaders for Ponteland Runners. The course requires a 1 day attendance, usually on a Saturday and is good fun.
The next available dates in the North East can be found on the EA website by folllowing this EA LiRF Courses in North East. If we have multiple club members willing to do LiRF at the same time it is ideal as people can attend together as it’s more fun doing the course with others from the club.
As a club we do need to continue to get more volunteers involved in leading runs, and where people are interested they can progress to coaching qualifications.
If you are interested then once qualified you can get involved in leading sessions, at first with provided session outlines but once you are happy you can organise your own sessions. If you have any questions please feel free to have a chat with a committee member of existing leader about the role. The more leaders we have the less burden it is on any individual to deliver many sessions. Most of our leaders tend to lead at least twice a month. If you are happy to proceed please email Coach@pontelandrunners.org.uk and cc treasurer@pontelandrunners.org.uk and they will guide you through the process. Once agreed with the coach co-ordinator and treasurer you will be required to book onto the course and will then be refunded the cost from the club. Please do not book and pay for the course until you have approval from the treasurer.
Ponteland Runners fully fund the qualification for volunteers, and where possible we work with external funding organisations to assist in this expense.
You can see more about LiRF and the other EA coaching qualifications EA Qualifications, and scroll down to the LiRF section.
Thankyou in advance for considering doing LiRF.
