Triathlon is a combined swim/cycle/run event in which the athlete completes the three events and the transitions as quickly as possible.  Triathlon’s start at sprint or supersprint distance,  then standard/olympic,  and progress to half Ironman and full Ironman distances.

Ponteland Runners objective is to aid our members to complete their first multi-discipline events easily and with the support of the club.  Duathlon or Aquathon maybe most people’s starting point but if you want to jump straight in then the early season pool based triathlon’s are a great starting point.

Ashington Triathlon on the early May bank holiday could be a good starting point with the 400 yd swim / 20k bike /5k run format.
