Well done to all the club runners taking part in today’s Town Moor memorial 10k race organised by Heaton Harriers.
This course gives runners a great chance to get a PB and at least 4 club members took advantage of that today (Paul O’Neil, Helen O’Neil, Matthew Levison and Lynn Midgley Ward) Well done especially to Matthew on breaking (or should that be smashing?) the 40 minute barrier for the first time. Special mention to Mick Meaney too as it couldn’t have been easy doing 10k whilst carrying a dog.
The week leading up to the 3rd round of NEHL XC saw local news reports of freezing temperatures with sleet and snow hitting the northeast by the weekend. The weather apps showed a cool dry day! So which was it to be? Susan Dorani provides a great race report with all the information.
If you get injured after entering an Ironman then you may as well go along and watch the misery (and ecstasy) of those who are taking part.
In our second report from Barcelona, Mark Turnbull shares his thoughts on the greatest challenge he’s ever faced in his life (no, not the race – it was the thought of having to share a bed with Mark Kelly!).
Sadly for one of our group, Ironman Barcelona didn’t quite have the happy ending they wanted (or indeed the one all the rest of us wanted for him). In this report, John McGargill gives an honest report on his experience. Everyone at the club wishes John the very best for a speedy and full recovery.
Running around a field in Northumberland made Arran Stephenson go all poetic.
