Many Congratulations to Ray Smedley for winning the 2018 Club Championship by 22 points in his first year as a club member. There were lots of superb individual performances in 2018 – more insight to follow at the January Social night. Congratulations and a big thank you to all 106 members that took part, representing the club in competitions and demonstrating how the club is growing in numbers and popularity.

Well done to all the club runners taking part in today’s Town Moor memorial 10k race organised by Heaton Harriers.
This course gives runners a great chance to get a PB and at least 4 club members took advantage of that today (Paul O’Neil, Helen O’Neil, Matthew Levison and Lynn Midgley Ward) Well done especially to Matthew on breaking (or should that be smashing?) the 40 minute barrier for the first time. Special mention to Mick Meaney too as it couldn’t have been easy doing 10k whilst carrying a dog.
The week leading up to the 3rd round of NEHL XC saw local news reports of freezing temperatures with sleet and snow hitting the northeast by the weekend. The weather apps showed a cool dry day! So which was it to be? Susan Dorani provides a great race report with all the information.
