11 club members took part in this fairly well established local race in cold icy conditions producing some great performances and times.
With all the men finishing in the top 50 and the ladies also putting in strong performances this was a good day at the office.
Although we rely on our Facebook posts for most club news, every now and then we circulate a newsletter to all of the email addresses we have for members. With the club continuing to grow apace, there is lots going on so here are some of the upcoming events and other news…….
Bowling Night on Saturday 2nd December 26 club members are heading to Eldon Leisure Bowling to see if they can bowl any better than they can run. My first Wednesday run with Ponteland runners everyone was going on about the start of the cross country season coming up, “its great fun and the hot chocolate and cakes more than make up for the mud”… hmmmm I wasn’t convinced. Mud plus cold plus hills did not sound very fun and I thought everyone was plain crazy! I certainly didn’t think 2 months later I would be rocking up to Aykley heads with spikes in hand ready to run.
Eleven Ponteland Runners took part in the 2017 edition of this long established, very well organised 10k.
Despite the windy, cold conditions there were a number of PBs for members including a first sub 40 minute time for Roland Brown – well done Roland.

After a good turn out at yesterday’s Rising ParkRun the table has made some late changes to the table. Most significant at the sharp end was Mick Meaney overtaking Nick Wild into second place, a great effort. This will be the final table unless anyone does a marathon before the end of the month, so subject to verification and of course drugs testing John McGargill is the winner – Congratulations, a great example of fulfilling your potential!.
